UK Seminar 2010

GM Steiner and Master Fruitstone have just returned from another great weekend of seminars hosted by Mr. Brian Crawley in the UK.  They stayed in Southport, and taught seminars in Formy on Saturday and Sunday.  Saturday, Mr. Crawley and his son received private training for several hours, and Sunday's seminar saw participants from different schools and organizations.  The topics covered included ettiquete, patterns, technical knowledge, self-defense, and sparring.  GM Steiner and Master Fruitstone each had the opportunity to spar with the participants, and a great time was had by all.  Thanks again to Mr. Crawley for being a good host.

Team Florida Does Great at YCTA Nationals in Denver!

The weekend of November 12-14 was a great weekend of competition.  5 competitors from Chi, coached by Master Fruitstone travelled to Denver to compete in the Yom Chi Taekwon-Do Association Nationals.  We took 1 first place in Patterns, 2 second places in Sparring, 1 third place in Sparring, and 1 third place in Breaking.  Congratulations to our competitors and thank you to all those who participated in our student's training!  Thank you to GMs Lang and Steiner, and Master Arnold as well.

Spooktoberfest was Awesome!!!

Our Spooktoberfest fundraising tournament on October 23 was a great success.  We had 35 competitors from both our school and GM Steiner's academy who participated in both Patterns and Sparring.  It was great to see everyone in action, and for our parents to see the progress their children have made!  I was proud of all of the competitors.  Next up... Yom Chi Taekwon-Do Nationals in Colorado.  Mr. Gonzalez will represent the Miami Shores school, and GM Steiner will have several competitors from his academy.  Master Fruitstone will be coaching all of the Chi students at the event.

Spooktoberfest Innerschool Tournament Saturday Oct. 23!

Join us on Saturday, October 23 for our first fundraising tournament, entitled "SPOOKTOBERFEST"!  It is an innerschool tournament at the Miami Shores school with our own students and GM Steiner's, and is a fun event raising money to send our team to Colorado in November for YCTA Nationals.  Please turn in your applications as soon as possible, so we can pre-bracket the tournament.  Thanks!!!  Shadow Warriors compete at 9am, 9:30 White-Green Stripes, 10:15 Green-Red Stripes, 11am Red-Black Belts.  Divisions may be combined to ensure competition and fairness.  Please arrive at least 15 min prior to your competition time.

Mark Drake visits Miami

Mr. Mark Drake, TKD 3rd Dan from England, visited us last week for some hard training.  He had the opportunity to work out with both Master Fruitstone and GM Steiner at both schools, and got to do some good sparring at the Miami Shores academy.  He had a great time and made some great friends.  We will get the chance to see him and Mr. Crawley again when we go to North England in December.  Thanks to all who helped him over the past week!

Open House all week: 8/23-8/28!

Hey guys!  Don't forget that we will have Open House all week this week.  Any student may bring a friend to our classes to try out at no cost!  Saturday night, we'll have a booth at Mooie's Ice Cream Parlor from 5-8pm giving out free stuff for Back to School.  Come visit us!

Also, make sure you say hello to Mr. Mark Drake, who's in town from England to train until Sunday.  Make him feel at home!

2nd Dan Promotions!

Last night, Mr. Francisco Gonzalez and Mr. Carlo Piantini successfully took and passed their 2nd Dan Black Belt exams.  Both GM Steiner and Master Fruitstone were on the testing board.  We are very proud of the hard work that you both put in.

Welcome to our new Chi Blog!!!

Hi everyone!  We're continuing our progress into the technological age by creating a new blog.    I hope that all of my students will visit and post on the blog with your experiences and thoughts about the school.  We've linked to our website from the blog, so you can check the newsletter and other happenings.  Don't forget to check out the Chi Martial Arts Facebook page as well!

Don't forget that classes will be cancelled on Friday August 13 and Saturday the 14th this week.  Mr. Francisco Gonzalez will be testing for 2nd Dan Black Belt at GM Steiner's school on Friday night at 6pm.  All TKD colored belt students should plan to attend.
